My book club idea
I had a great idea today as I was thinking about the book I'm currently reading, Thomas Hardy's Jude the Obscure. My idea is to run a book club through my blog. Here's why it's genius:
1. I get to pick the books.
2. I assign the reading schedule.
3. I get to post my observations and then let the dialogue flow from there.
4. Most importantly, I don't have to wait until I've finished the book before I can post my thoughts. There are so many important points that percolate in-reading, many of which are forgotten or lose their impact by the time I've finished the book weeks or months later. By posting the observations as I read them, piecemeal, I get the greatest benefit of reflection, and I get everyone else's as well.
Everyone is welcome to participate, but nobody is committed to do anything beyond what they want to.
This is going to be good.
I'm going to start with Jude the Obscure because I'm only 100 pages into it so anyone who wants to catch up can do it quickly. And I've been keeping some notes on my observations so far, so we have some discussion points already.
I'll wait 3-5 days to get a response from my vast readership before we get started. Post here if you are "in".

3 days and no responses yet...
Maybe this whole "reading" thing isn't all it's cracked up to be.
I would do it but I think I would sound like an idiot posting any comments. I'm not much of a reader so anything I have to say probably wouldn't be worth much. But I'm looking forward to reading your comments!!
I"m with Lindsay. Love to get book suggestions though. I am picking it up at the library today.
okay...fine. I will try to get through this book.
